Milt Pupique is Joshua Marvit.

He received his Ph.D. from Baylor College of Medicine. His dissertation revolved around a scientific discovery of historic dimensions, one that has resulted in his co-authored research being cited almost 700 times in the bio-medical literature. He presently teaches at Penn State University and has received both local and national acclaim for the breadth, the depth, and the style of the 20 different classes that he offers, including one on avian influenza.

Marvit has created a novel genre of humor, over 800 examples of which appear in his book. Dubbed, “acrosticdoublespeak”, this form of humor is quite unique in its almost limitless versatility. He credits his ability to create this encrypted genre of humor to a spirituality born out of both his wartime experiences and his many years of studying Kabbalah.

His pseudonym, M Pupique, has appeared in an editorial in the science journal Nature, while a selection of his humor has appeared in The Journal of Irreproducible Results. His unique brand of humor has been acclaimed in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. Furthermore, he has introduced a 3-credit class at Penn State University entitled, “The Essence of Humor”, a course which uses his book as a core text.

Dr. Marvit lives in Pittsburgh with his wife Azuzu (to whom the book is dedicated as she represents his Basis of Inspiration and Guidance, a Bastion of Ongoing Strength and Support, i.e., BIG BOSS). They have 4 children and an old dog.
